TCO Fly Tying Class: Tying Stoneflies with Tyler Potts
Is cabin fever setting in, or are you looking for the perfect Christmas gift for your flyfishing partner? Join us to learn all about stoneflies (Plecoptera—Latin for “braided wing”) and to tie a few time tested patterns before you head to your favorite stream, especially if it has a rocky bottom full of “stones.”
-
All tying materials will be provided for students to use but bring your favorite vise and tools.
-
We've carefully chosen a set of steelhead specific fly patterns that will help you understand a range of fundamental techniques and patterns.
-
You will learn about proportions so that the finished fly looks and acts appropriately on the water.
-
We will explore a variety of the materials that we stock in our fly shop, so that you become familiar with how they are used.
-
The class will include tips and tricks that will make the fly-tying process more enjoyable.
-
You will leave the class equipped with the skills needed to expand the craft.
Your instructor, Tyler Potts has been with TCO since 2021 but has been wading all the rocky streams that are loaded with Stoneflies. Come and tie a few with him.
