Midges are an essential part of a trout’s diet. Join us to learn about midges and how to tie some of the most productive patterns for any Pennsylvania stream. After this informative session with Connor, you'll be ready to fill your fly box.        

  • All tying materials will be provided for students to use but bring your favorite vise and tools.    

  • We've carefully chosen a set of steelhead specific fly patterns that will help you understand a range of fundamental techniques and patterns.

  • You will learn about proportions so that the finished fly looks and acts appropriately on the water.

  • We will explore a variety of the materials that we stock in our fly shop, so that you become familiar with how they are used.

  • The class will include tips and tricks that will make the fly-tying process more enjoyable.

  • You will leave the class equipped with the  skills needed to expand the craft.

Your instructor, Connor McCoy,  the manager of our Reading  store, has been with TCO since 2023.  Connor has over 8 years of experience tying flies to catch trout in our local waters.  

Patterns:   Manhattan Midge, Juju Batis, Trout Foolery
