Want to fish deep with some new euro flies? Come join us to learn the techniques needed to create your own flies to expand your contact fishing knowledge. We will review why these flies are important and how to tie them so you can be prepared the next time you hit the water. There’s nothing more special than catching the fish of a lifetime on your own fly or simply expanding one’s knowledge of the local insects.            

  • All tying materials will be provided for students to use but bring your favorite vise and tools.    

  • We've carefully chosen a set of steelhead specific fly patterns that will help you understand a range of fundamental techniques and patterns.

  • You will learn about proportions so that the finished fly looks and acts appropriately on the water.

  • We will explore a variety of the materials that we stock in our fly shop, so that you become familiar with how they are used.

  • The class will include tips and tricks that will make the fly-tying process more enjoyable.

  • You will leave the class equipped with the  skills needed to expand the craft.

Your instructor, Connor McCoy,  the manager of our Reading  store, has been with TCO since 2023.  Connor has over 8 years of experience tying flies to catch trout in our local waters.
