TCO Fly Tying Class: Intro to Deer Hair with Frank Landis
Working with deer hair is often intimidating to many beginner to intermediate fly tyers. In this class, we will thoroughly cover the essential techniques and considerations that you need to know to begin working with deer hair. We will also discuss how to select and evaluate which type of deer hair is best for different applications. Each fly we tie will highlight different skills to provide you with a solid foundation of working with this material . This class is not ideal for true fly tying first timers, but anyone from beginners with basic skills to experienced tiers will find something of value. Below are the patterns and techniques that we will focus on:
- X Caddis (Stacking and Securing Deer Hair)
- Comparadun Dry (Hair Selection)
- Hex Spinner (Posts and Extended Bodies)
- Bass Bug (Spinning Belly Hair)
